Camden, NJ – Detectives from the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and the Camden County Police Department are investigating the fatal stabbing of a Camden resident who managed to reach Cooper University Hospital before collapsing from his injuries.
According to Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez, officers were dispatched to Cooper University Hospital at approximately 2:53 a.m. Saturday after receiving reports that a stabbing victim had arrived at the facility.
Investigators said the victim walked to the hospital seeking emergency medical treatment before collapsing outside the hospital’s parking garage. Medical personnel and first responders attempted lifesaving measures, but the victim succumbed to his injuries.
He was pronounced dead at approximately 3:49 a.m.

Authorities identified the victim as Davinne Evans, 28, of Camden.
Following the discovery of Evans, detectives began working to determine where the assault had occurred. Evidence collected during the preliminary investigation led investigators to a location near the intersection of Broadway and Stevens Street, where police established a crime scene.
Investigators spent several hours processing evidence, interviewing potential witnesses and canvassing the surrounding neighborhood for surveillance video that could help identify the person responsible.
