ALLEGHENY COUNTY, PA – The Allegheny County Police Department’s General Investigations Unit has charged two individuals following a series of overnight incidents involving vehicle break-ins in Bellevue and Ross Township. The events, occurring in the early hours of April 6, led to a dangerous confrontation and the discharge of a firearm.
In Ross Township, a woman arriving at her Clarion Avenue home around 12:30 am heard voices outside and found three people rummaging through her vehicle. One of the intruders, identified as 18-year-old Zymon Campbell of Pittsburgh, brandished a handgun and ordered the woman back inside her house.
Later, around 3:00 am in Bellevue, police responded to reports of two suspects attempting to break into parked vehicles on Laurel Avenue. An officer’s pursuit led to one suspect firing a gun while trying to climb a fence, who was then apprehended. The second suspect, Zymon Campbell, was detained shortly after, found in possession of a loaded magazine for a .45 caliber firearm. Two guns were recovered in the investigation.
Campbell faces charges including simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and illegal firearm possession. The other suspect, a 17-year-old male, will face charges in juvenile court.
