West Virginia man accused of returning after being ordered to leave Virginia Avenue business
CUMBERLAND, MD — A disturbance at a Cumberland business took an unusual turn when a man who had already been told to leave allegedly returned, caused another disturbance and tried to throw chips into someone’s vehicle, according to Cumberland Police.
The incident occurred Aug. 8 at a business in the 400 block of Virginia Avenue.
Officers were initially called to the business for a reported disturbance involving Todd Jones, 48, of Ridgeley, West Virginia.
Police said Jones was told to leave the property after creating the disturbance.
He allegedly returned a short time later.
According to police, Jones caused another disturbance after coming back and attempted to throw chips into another person’s vehicle.
Police did not specify what kind of chips were involved or describe what prompted the original dispute.
On Wednesday, Cumberland Police served Jones with a criminal summons stemming from the incident.
Jones was charged with trespassing and disorderly conduct.
Police said he signed for his copy of the summons and was released pending trial in District Court.
The charges are accusations, and Jones is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
