GAITHERSBURG, Md. — A 16-year-old from Clarksburg, already in custody for a shooting earlier this year, now faces additional charges linked to an August 2024 shooting incident in Germantown. Jaiden Ochieng, who was previously charged with attempted first-degree murder in connection with a March shooting, has been identified as the suspect in an August 8 incident on Crystal Rock Drive.

According to police, officers from the 5th District responded to reports of gunfire in the 19600 block of Crystal Rock Drive. Investigators determined that the suspect, later identified as Ochieng, drove a stolen blue Honda Civic to the area, where he allegedly exited the vehicle and fired shots at a victim sitting on a park bench. The victim managed to escape the scene without injury.

Detectives traced the blue Honda Civic used in the shooting back to Clarksburg, where it had been reported stolen. On September 6, authorities arrested Ochieng on Copper Ridge Road in Germantown. During the arrest, Ochieng discarded a handgun, which was later recovered and identified through ballistic analysis as the weapon used in the August shooting.

The recovered handgun had been reported lost in Prince George’s County, according to police. The new charges add to the legal troubles for Ochieng, who was already facing charges related to the March shooting on Archdale Road in Germantown.

Ochieng remains in custody as authorities continue their investigation into both incidents. Police have not provided further details on his upcoming court appearances or additional potential charges.
