Clarkstown Officials Launch Operation Omnipresent Amid Hamas Threat on Friday

CLARKSTOWN, NY – Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann convened a safety and security briefing at Town Hall yesterday afternoon, marking the initiation of Operation Omnipresent. The increased security measures come in response to a Hamas call for a “global day of anger” scheduled for Friday, October 13, 2023.

The Clarkstown Police Department clarified that there are no specific threats reported against the Town of Clarkstown as of now. “In an abundance of caution, the Clarkstown Police Department will be operating on a heightened security protocol,” stated the department’s official press release.

To fortify the safety of the community, the department’s Cultural and Religious Security Unit (CaReS) will be fully activated. Established in 2020, CaReS is specialized in safeguarding a range of religious and cultural institutions throughout the town. Notably, the Clarkstown Police Department is the only force in the county to operate a unit solely focused on this critical area.

The briefing saw participation from key stakeholders including staff from Congressman Lawler’s office, Senator Bill Weber, Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski, and other local officials. Their attendance highlights the gravity of the situation and the collaborative efforts to maintain public safety.

While there are no specific threats at this moment, the community is advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.

The Clarkstown Police Department reaffirms its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all its residents, especially in these times of heightened concern.
