Columbus Man Charged With Murder After 67-Year-Old Woman Found Dead on Faber Avenue

A 31-year-old Columbus man has been charged with murder after officers found a 67-year-old woman dead inside a residence on Faber Avenue.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A Columbus man has been charged with murder following the death of a 67-year-old woman whose body was discovered Saturday afternoon on Faber Avenue, according to the Columbus Division of Police.

Officers responded at approximately 12:37 p.m. to the 1200 block of Faber Avenue on an unknown complaint. When they arrived, they found Randelle Bowman, 67, suffering from what police described as obvious trauma to her body.

Medics responded to the scene and pronounced Bowman dead at 1:44 p.m.

Suspect detained near the scene

Homicide detectives launched an investigation and identified 31-year-old David Holmes as the suspect. Police said Holmes was detained near the scene and subsequently charged with murder.

Investigators said the preliminary investigation indicates domestic violence may have been the motive in the killing. Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances leading up to the incident.

Investigation remains ongoing

The Columbus Division of Police is continuing to investigate the homicide and is asking anyone with information to contact the Homicide Unit at 614-645-4730.

Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Central Ohio Crime Stoppers by calling 614-461-TIPS (8477).

Why it matters

Domestic violence-related homicide investigations often require extensive forensic evidence and witness interviews as detectives work to determine the events leading to a victim’s death. The murder charge against Holmes is an allegation, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
