COLUMBUS, OHIO – Columbus Police SWAT arrested a 19-year-old murder suspect wanted in connection with the July shooting death of Maliek Venson, according to the Columbus Division of Police.
Danyo Sellers was arrested without incident Monday after detectives obtained a warrant charging him with murder. The charge stems from a July 23 shooting in the 2300 block of Hamilton Avenue.
Officers were initially dispatched to Hamilton Avenue at 3:29 a.m. following a report of shots fired, police said. They arrived to find Venson unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound, and he was pronounced dead at 3:43 a.m.

The Columbus Division of Police announced Sellers’ arrest after homicide detectives investigating Venson’s death obtained a warrant charging the 19-year-old with murder.
“On August 31, Sellers was arrested without incident by Columbus Police SWAT,” the department said.

Despite the response, Venson was pronounced dead at 3:43 a.m., approximately 14 minutes after officers were dispatched to the scene.
