Crash closes right lane on I-295 northbound in Mansfield

MANSFIELD TWP, NJ – A crash on Interstate 295 northbound shut one lane and the right shoulder Sunday morning just south of Exit 52 for Columbus Road.

The New Jersey Department of Transportation’s Traffic Operations Center South reported the incident at 8:19 a.m. and issued an update one minute later.

Officials said one of three northbound lanes, along with the right shoulder, was closed as crews responded to the scene.

No information was immediately available regarding injuries or the number of vehicles involved.

Lane restrictions cause minor delays

Traffic slowed briefly near the crash site as responders worked along the right side of the highway.

DOT monitoring showed congestion developing through the affected area, with vehicles merging into the two remaining lanes.

Emergency and tow crews were dispatched to clear the scene and restore full traffic flow.

Crews work to reopen the roadway

The closure remained in effect during the early morning response, though traffic continued to move in the left lanes.

Officials advised drivers to use caution approaching the area until all lanes were reopened.
