Glendola Fire Company responded Friday morning to reports of a motor vehicle crash involving poles and wires down on top of cars, arriving to find a dangerous scene with energized lines draped over vehicles.

Chief 2-66 was first on scene and confirmed multiple poles and power lines had fallen, pinning vehicles and trapping occupants inside.

Engine 2-73 arrived shortly after and worked to contain a fire hazard as crews navigated the risk posed by live electrical lines.

Firefighters were forced to wait for Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) to shut down electricity to the area before attempting rescues, a critical step to prevent electrocution.

Once power was confirmed off, crews moved in to remove occupants from the vehicles.
