D.C. Police Investigate Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash

Washington, D.C. – Detectives from the D.C. Metro Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit are currently investigating a tragic traffic accident that resulted in the death of a man in Northwest D.C.

In the early hours of Monday, at around 1:24 a.m., a southbound vehicle in the 6100 block of 3rd Street, Northwest, veered into the opposing lane, colliding with an unoccupied parked vehicle. The impact caused the vehicle to hit another parked vehicle before coming to a halt in the northbound lane, facing west.

The driver, who was the vehicle’s only occupant, succumbed to his injuries at the scene, marking a sorrowful conclusion to the crash.

The deceased has been identified as 27-year-old Francisco Efrain Sorto Mendez, a resident of Northwest, D.C. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the police at (202) 727-9099.
