BRONX, N.Y. — A Bronx man was sentenced Thursday to 21 years to life in prison for the fatal shooting of a 35-year-old man following a dispute in the Morrisania section.
Quron Thomas, 33, was convicted in November of second-degree murder and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon for the April 21, 2021, killing of Rahmel Moore. Bronx Supreme Court Justice Steven Hornstein imposed concurrent sentences of 21 years to life for murder and seven years with five years of post-release supervision for the weapons charges.
Prosecutors said Thomas argued with Moore outside 1229 Franklin Avenue before returning to the scene with an accomplice around 9:15 p.m. and shooting the victim three times. Surveillance footage captured the incident and later traced Thomas to his residence, showing he had changed clothes before and after the shooting.
Thomas was arrested nearly a month later on May 20, 2021, after an eyewitness identified him as the gunman. Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark said the defendant “callously shot his victim three times” and will now “serve many years in prison.”
