Delaware Man Arrested After Shooting at State Trooper

DELMAR, DE – On Tuesday, Roger Little, a 64-year-old resident of Delmar, Delaware, was arrested on charges of reckless endangering and other offenses following an incident in which he fired shots at a state trooper. The trooper had responded to Little’s residence on Blue Bird Lane after 9-1-1 dispatchers received a call from Little claiming that he had been shot.

Upon arriving at the scene, the state trooper made contact with Little, who was standing outside his residence. As the trooper approached, Little brandished a firearm and fired multiple shots in the direction of the officer. The trooper took cover and was not injured in the shooting.

Additional officers from the Delaware State Police and Delmar Police Department were called to the scene to assist in the situation. As law enforcement officers surrounded the residence, Little continued to fire additional shots from within the house.

Negotiators from the Delaware State Police Conflict Management Team arrived on scene and established contact with Little. After several hours of negotiation, Little surrendered to authorities without further incident. Upon securing the scene, investigators discovered that Little had not actually been shot, as initially claimed in his 9-1-1 call.

Roger Little was arrested and charged with first-degree reckless endangering, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, aggravated menacing, and falsely reporting an incident. He was arraigned at the Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $115,000 cash bond.
