Delaware man charged with making violent threat to Caesar Rodney High School

CAMDEN, Del. — Delaware State Police arrested an 18-year-old Magnolia man accused of making a threat of violence against Caesar Rodney High School earlier this week, authorities announced Thursday.

The incident began on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, when the School Resource Officer at the high school, located at 239 Old North Road, was alerted to a threat made via social media and text message. The threat prompted additional law enforcement presence on campus to ensure the safety of students and staff.

Investigators identified Malik Cooper as the individual responsible for the threat and obtained a warrant for his arrest. Cooper turned himself in at Troop 3 on Wednesday, December 11, and was subsequently charged with felony terroristic threatening for recklessly disregarding the safety and security of the school.

Cooper was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on his own recognizance.

Police assured the public that there was no active danger to the school and that the safety of students and staff remains their top priority.
