Yardley officers say Philadelphia man was slumped over in vehicle still in reverse gear

YARDLEY, Pa. — Police in Bucks County arrested a Philadelphia man on DUI and drug-related charges after officers found him passed out behind the wheel of a running SUV late Monday night.

The incident happened around 10:45 p.m. in the 100 block of South Main Street in Yardley Borough, according to the Yardley Borough Police Department.

Authorities said officers were called to investigate a black Dodge SUV parked in the driveway of a private residence.

When police arrived, they found the vehicle still running and in reverse while the driver remained unconscious with his foot on the brake, investigators said.

Police said the investigation led officers to develop probable cause that the 35-year-old driver from Philadelphia was under the influence of narcotics.

The man was arrested on DUI-related offenses and drug charges.

Authorities said he was processed and later released pending court proceedings.

The SUV was impounded.

Police have not released the suspect’s identity.
