Evesham police remind residents to use station’s safe zone for online deals

October 6, 2025

MARLTON, NJ – With online marketplace scams and robberies on the rise, the Evesham Township Police Department is urging residents to make use of its designated “Safe Transaction Zone” for completing in-person purchases.

The secure area, established in 2015, is located in the lobby of police headquarters at 984 Tuckerton Road, where the space and surrounding parking lots are brightly lit and monitored by surveillance cameras.

Officials said the initiative was designed to give residents a safe, public setting to meet buyers and sellers from online platforms such as Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

The police department noted that officers will not participate in transactions or mediate disputes, and that any exchanges involving weapons, drugs, or paraphernalia are strictly prohibited.

The lobby is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Those meeting after hours or on weekends are encouraged to use the monitored parking area and notify the front desk if visiting during business hours.

The department said the goal is to reduce risks tied to online transactions by offering a neutral, well-supervised location — a safer way to make a deal in the digital age.
