In one message posted in July, the account railed against what it called an “authoritarian oligarchy,” listing media companies, federal law enforcement, and the Supreme Court while declaring that Americans would “have to ‘fight like hell.’”
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, though the incident followed national headlines about Kimmel’s suspension. Investigators are working to determine whether Hernandez-Santana’s political activity online is connected to the attack.
Hernandez-Santana is being held in custody pending his arraignment.
