GAITHERSBURG, MD – Three men are in custody after an attempted armed carjacking during an online vehicle sale arranged through Facebook Marketplace.
On Tuesday, July 22, a Gaithersburg resident met with prospective buyers interested in purchasing a BMW listed for sale online. During the meeting at the seller’s home, 18-year-old Julian Chase Rose of Beltsville and 19-year-old Prince Chukang of Silver Spring displayed a handgun and demanded the car keys. The victim dropped the keys and fled.
Police said 20-year-old Kendric Rock of Silver Spring accompanied the suspects in a 2019 Infiniti Q50, which had been reported stolen on July 1. All three fled in the Infiniti.
Around 8 p.m., officers from multiple district stations responded and apprehended the suspects after the Infiniti crashed. Firearms and ammunition were recovered during the arrests.
The men face multiple charges, including attempted armed carjacking and firearm offenses, and are being held without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
