HIGHLANDS, N.J. — The Annual Highlands Fiesta de Mayo Cantina Crawl returns today, bringing festive energy, margarita tastings, and live mariachi music to Huddy Park and surrounding local establishments.

From 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., participants sample 6-ounce margaritas crafted by competing local restaurants as they vie for the title of Best Margarita in Highlands. Guests then vote for their favorite, with the winning establishment earning community bragging rights.

The $40 registration fee includes access to food and drink specials at participating eateries and pubs, discounts at select retail shops, and surprise tastings throughout the day. Registration is available on-site the day of the event.

“Participants will sample delicious 6oz. Margaritas from 12-5 p.m. and then vote for their favorite,” organizers state in the event announcement.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, live mariachi music plays at various venues along the crawl, enhancing the event’s authentic Mexican celebration.

Community celebrates Cinco de Mayo spirit with margaritas and local flair

The Cantina Crawl is held rain or shine and is non-refundable. Attendees are encouraged to dress for the weather and plan to explore the Highlands business district throughout the afternoon.

The event draws hundreds of visitors annually and has become a local tradition tied to the Cinco de Mayo celebration, combining community engagement with local business support.

Participating restaurants are located near Huddy Park at 329 Bay Avenue, with event staff and signage guiding attendees to sampling stops.

Margarita lovers flood Highlands today as the Cantina Crawl mixes competition, music and community cheer.
