NEW CITY, N.Y. — Five individuals have been arrested and indicted following a five-month investigation into narcotics sales in Rockland County, the District Attorney’s Office announced Thursday.
The Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force, working in coordination with local, state, and federal partners, charged the defendants with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree and Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree.
Those arrested include Jose Pena of Garnerville, Mario Amaya and Jonathan Albizures of Spring Valley, Daquan Leary of Suffern, and Eric Hayden of Pomona. Authorities allege the suspects were involved in the sale of crack cocaine and powder cocaine in the Village of Spring Valley, the Town of Haverstraw, and the Town of Ramapo.
“The arrest and indictments of these alleged drug dealers is a critical step in our ongoing fight to protect our residents and keep the community safe,” said District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II.
The investigation was conducted by the Drug Task Force, which focuses on combating street-level narcotics sales and related violence throughout Rockland County. It includes prosecutors, DA investigators, and police officers from the Clarkstown, Orangetown, and Haverstraw police departments.
The District Attorney also emphasized support for those struggling with addiction, urging individuals to seek assistance through the county’s “Hope Not Handcuffs” program, which offers immediate access to treatment without legal consequences.
