BRICK TOWNSHIP, NJ – A drug deal at the Brick Wawa was observed on New Year’s Eve by a township police officer. After identifying himself as a police officer, he was dragged by one of the suspect’s vehicles. Five were eventually arrested by the department’s Street Crimes Unit which has been active in several high profile drug busts during 2020. Edwardo Lopez, 57, of Berkeley Township and Ryan Chapman, 39, of Howell conducted a drug buy while detectives watched. As a detective approached the vehicle, the driver, Jill Farrelly, 38 of Howell drove away. The vehicle’s side mirror caught the detective’s clothing and dragged him for approximately 10 feet, police said. He was treated at Ocean Medical Center for contusions.
