LITTLE EGG HARBOR, NJ – Drivers across South Jersey are taking notice of Freedom Fuel, a privately owned network of discount gas stations that has expanded to 25 locations throughout the Greater Philadelphia and South Jersey region while advertising fuel prices below state and national averages.
Now, there’s one in Ocean County.
The lower prices have generated discussion on social media, with some motorists questioning why competing retailers charge significantly more per gallon. One widely shared post compared Freedom Fuel’s pricing to larger chains, including Wawa, suggesting some stations are charging about 50 cents more per gallon.
Discount pricing draws attention
According to information released about the company, Freedom Fuel initially introduced gasoline at $3.47 per gallon, a price chosen to recognize President Donald Trump as the nation’s 47th president. Company representatives have said the pricing is intended as both a promotional effort and a way to offer consumers lower fuel costs.
The Trump administration has promoted the Freedom Fuel network, but officials have stated the stations are privately owned and operated. The administration has also said no government funds are being used to subsidize gasoline prices.
Current South Jersey locations
Freedom Fuel currently operates throughout the Greater Philadelphia and South Jersey region, including several locations in New Jersey:
- Egg Harbor Township: 6801 Tilton Road and 6501 Delilah Road
- Little Egg Harbor Township: 1520 County Road 539
- Marlton: 160 Route 73
- West Berlin: 898 Route 73
The company says its footprint is currently limited to the Philadelphia metropolitan area and South Jersey.
Questions remain about future expansion
The identity of Freedom Fuel’s parent company has not been publicly disclosed. As a result, it remains unclear whether the discounted pricing strategy will continue long term or whether additional locations are planned beyond the current service area.
For now, the stations continue attracting motorists looking for lower fuel prices as drivers compare costs across the region amid ongoing competition among gasoline retailers.
