Arrest made more than a year after violent DC robbery

A suspect has been arrested in connection with a violent robbery that investigators say occurred in Northwest DC last year.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A suspect has been arrested more than a year after a robbery in Northwest DC in which police say two people assaulted a victim before stealing property.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the robbery occurred at approximately 3:15 a.m. on May 19, 2025, in the 1700 block of 7th Street, Northwest.

Investigators said the victim was talking with a suspect before attempting to leave. Police allege the suspect began assaulting the victim, and a second suspect then joined in the attack.

The suspects allegedly took property from the victim before fleeing the area.

On July 7, pursuant to a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant, 21-year-old Madison Bartlett, who police said has no fixed address, was arrested and charged with robbery (force and violence).

The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue working to identify the second suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Metropolitan Police Department at (202) 727-9099 or text tips to 50411. Police are offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
