Governor Murphy lifts state of emergency after 10 days of winter weather and cold

TRENTON, NJ — Governor Phil Murphy officially ended the State of Emergency for New Jersey on Monday, concluding a 10-day response to severe winter weather that impacted all 21 counties.

The emergency, initially declared on Saturday, January 18, through Executive Order No. 378, was lifted at 5:00 p.m. today with the signing of Executive Order No. 380.

The declaration had mobilized state resources to address heavy snowfall, icy conditions, and hazardous roadways across the region. Officials reported widespread disruptions during the storm’s peak, though no further emergency measures are currently required.

“Today marks the conclusion of our coordinated response to the severe winter weather,” Governor Murphy said in a statement earlier in the day, commending first responders and state agencies for their efforts.

All state operations have returned to normal as of Monday evening.
