ANDOVER, NJ – When relatives of patients at the Andover Subacute longterm care facility in Andover, New Jersey, relatives were sent forms in the mail alerting them that their loved one had contracted COVID-19 and there was nothing they would not be receiving proper medical care.
Here’s what we know so far:
- 17 dead bodies found stored at nursing home.
- 68 have died since March.
- Staff members infected.
- Relatives received form mail letters.
- 2 bodies disposed of in a shed on the property.
- Facility owned by Chaim Scheinbaum, of Alliance Healthcare in Lakewood.
The facility, owned by Chaim Scheinbaum, of Alliance Healthcare in Lakewood and now state officials are calling for an investigation into patient care at the facility after family members have lodged complaints.

Senator Steve Oroho and Assemblymen Parker Space and Hal Wirths (all R-Sussex, Warren, Morris) expressed their full support in getting the State Attorney General’s Office involved in investigating the tragic loss of so many lives since March 31 at Andover Subacute and Rehabilitation Center.
“The massive loss of life at Andover Subacute is nothing less than tragic, and the families of those who perished deserve answers about how their loved ones were cared for – or worse yet not cared for – during the current crisis,” the legislators said in a statement today. ““Additionally, the remaining residents of the facility and their families need to know that everything possible is being done to keep residents safe, to prevent the further spread of COVID-19, and to appropriately care for those who are sick.”
“Nursing homes and long-term care facilities, like Andover Subacute, are caring for some of the most vulnerable in our society, and family members deserve the security in knowing that their loved ones are protected when they enter these facilities’ doors,” the added.
“A story like this shakes you to the bone,” Gov. Phil Murphy said during his daily COVID-19 press conference today. “New Jerseyans living in our long-term care facilities deserve to be cared for with respect, compassion and dignity. We can and must do better.”
Attorney General Gurbir Grewal has launched an investigation into the matter. “I’m deeply concerned with the high number of deaths in NJ’s nursing homes, especially those with below-average safety records. That’s why we’ve opened a statewide investigation. We’ll follow the facts wherever they go. Stay tuned.”
