64-year-old man arrested after firing shots at teens in Southwest DC apartment hallway
WASHINGTON, DC — A 64-year-old man is behind bars after allegedly opening fire on two teenagers in the hallway of a Southwest apartment building over the weekend, police said.
The incident happened around 2:30 a.m. Saturday in the 4600 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SW. Investigators said the two teens had knocked on the man’s door while playing around before running off. Moments later, the suspect allegedly stepped into the hallway and fired shots in their direction.
The teenagers were not injured, though multiple bullet holes were found inside a nearby apartment.
Police identified the suspect as Darryl Woods of Southwest DC. Officers executed a search of his residence, where they recovered a firearm. Woods was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun), Felon in Possession, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm and Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Cruelty to Children.
No one else was reported injured, and the investigation remains ongoing.
