Gunmen unleash wild crossfire on Harlem street before vanishing

HARLEM, N.Y. – Chaos erupted in Harlem Friday evening when two unidentified gunmen opened fire along a busy stretch of Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard, sending pedestrians scrambling for cover before fleeing on foot, police said.

The shooting happened around 6:25 p.m. on January 9 near West 119th Street, according to the NYPD. Investigators said both suspects discharged firearms during the confrontation, though it remains unclear who or what they were targeting. No injuries were immediately reported.

After the shots rang out, witnesses told police the armed duo bolted from the scene in different directions, disappearing into nearby streets. Detectives from the 28th Precinct are now reviewing surveillance footage and canvassing the area for leads.
