Henderson County Maintains State of Emergency Amid Ongoing Relief Efforts

October 3, 2024

Henderson County, NC -Henderson County remains under a State of Emergency with a curfew in effect from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. A donation drop-off site located at 118 McAbee Court, Flat Rock, NC, continues to accept specific items. While diapers are not currently needed, non-perishable food, bottled water, and toiletries are requested. Clothing and perishable items are not being accepted. More details on acceptable items and volunteer opportunities can be found at www.visithendersonvillenc.org/helene-relief.

The Ecusta Trail is temporarily closed as a contractor clears storm debris. The trail is currently unsafe, and public access is restricted. Residents are encouraged to avoid the trail until further notice.

The Henderson County Convenience Center is operational, accepting bag-for-bag recycling and trash, with the Automated Waste Lane open at the Transfer Station. The county, in collaboration with a contractor and local municipalities, has initiated free curbside pickup of storm debris, effective since Monday.

Residents are advised to place debris—such as tree branches, logs, and building materials—along the road right of way for pickup.
