Illegal Alien Booked on Strangulation and Domestic Violence Charges in Ocean County

New Jersey man held without bail in domestic strangulation assault case, ICE detainer issued

TOMS RIVER, NJ — An illegal alien is being held without bail in Ocean County Jail following a violent domestic assault arrest on Wednesday, where he is accused of strangling a victim in a case classified under domestic violence statutes. Federal immigration authorities have also issued a detainer for potential deportation proceedings.

Angel Mandujano-Adrian was booked into the Ocean County Jail on Wednesday evening and formally charged under New Jersey criminal code 2C:12-1B(13) for aggravated assault involving the act of strangulation—a third-degree crime when connected to domestic violence.

He is currently ineligible for release under a no-bail order at this time, but Ocean County judges have repeatedly adhered to New Jersey’s Immigrant Trust Directive and Bail Reform Act, releasing inmates without notifying ICE.

Details of the assault incident, including the identity of the alleged victim and the exact circumstances, have not yet been released. Law enforcement confirmed that the assault involved strangulation and occurred in a domestic context, which escalates the seriousness of the charge under New Jersey law.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office has not publicly commented on this case.
