July 13, 2024

Valparaiso, IN — An arrest warrant has been issued for Jennifer Lee Wilson, a 48-year-old foster mother in Indiana, accused of killing her 10-year-old adopted son, Dakota Stevens, by allegedly sitting on him for several minutes after he asked a neighbor to call 911 due to abuse.

Wilson is wanted on one count of reckless homicide not committed by using a motor vehicle.

The Porter County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded at approximately 3:37 PM on April 25 to a call about an unresponsive 10-year-old at a home in the 200 block of Falcon Way in Valparaiso, Indiana, about 150 miles northwest of Indianapolis.

Upon arrival, first responders found Dakota lying on the ground near the driveway. He was unresponsive, not breathing, and had no pulse. CPR was being administered, and deputies noted visible bruising on his lower neck and chest.

The investigation into Dakota’s death is ongoing, and authorities are seeking Jennifer Lee Wilson in connection with the case.
