Jackson Township, NJ – Jackson Township Mayor Jennifer Kuhn announced today that the Township is proactively preparing for a potential upcoming snowfall this weekend, with the Department of Public Works (DPW) already taking steps to ensure roadways remain safe and passable for residents.
On behalf of the Jackson Township DPW, Mayor Kuhn emphasized that preparation is key and urged residents to assist by removing vehicles from Township roadways ahead of any snowfall.
“As we prepare for a winter storm forecasted to bring a few inches of snow over the upcoming weekend I’d like to remind residents to take necessary precautions for a safe and efficient snow removal process,” Mayor Kuhn said. “Beginning today, Jackson DPW will initiate brining efforts on our streets to help mitigate the impact of the snow. To facilitate effective salting and plowing, we kindly ask that all residents remove their vehicles from the streets. This will allow our snow removal teams to access all areas and ensure the safety of pedestrians and drivers alike.We appreciate your cooperation during this winter weather event. Council President Burnstein is asking residents who observe the Sabbath to begin preparations today, as township DPW crews will begin salting and brining the roads throughout the day and overnight if necessary.
“As we look ahead to the possibility of snow, we want to remind all residents of the importance of moving cars off the roadway before snowfall begins,” said Council President Mordechai Burnstein. “This reminder is especially important for our Sabbath-observant residents, who should plan ahead and remove their vehicles in advance so our crews can properly salt and plow curb to curb if snow begins.”
DPW crews are already being deployed in anticipation of winter weather. Residents may see salt spreaders and grinders out on the roads as part of the Township’s proactive approach to winter storm response.
Mayor Jennifer L. Kuhn also highlighted the Township’s significant investments in strengthening winter snow removal operations.
“This year alone, we’ve added over a dozen new salt spreaders and over a dozen new plows to our fleet. We are planning an aggressive response to winter weather events and we’re better prepared this year than in past years,” Mayor Kuhn said.
These preparations focus on safety and efficiency, ensuring that emergency vehicles and everyday commuters can travel safely during and after a storm and to avoid complications for DPW crews during the pre-storm salting and post-storm plowing process.
