The event, themed “Pastries, Peppermints & Partnerships,” invited attendees to enjoy holiday treats, wear their favorite ugly Christmas sweaters, and donate non-perishable food items to help local families in need.

Hosted at Sunrise Senior Living of Jackson, the food drive brought together seniors, township leadership, and Sunrise staff for coffee, conversation, and community spirit. Mayor Kuhn and Council Vice President Palmeri spent the morning visiting every table, engaging with residents, and speaking with the facility’s director and leadership team.

“This is not only a great event for the seniors here at Sunrise, seeing their faces, their smiles, and their excitement, but to engage with them directly about issues in our community and the world affecting them was a valuable experience for us,” Mayor Kuhn said. “It also reinforced our strong relationship as a township with Fulfill NJ, who is out there every day helping to feed the less fortunate in our town and county. The job they are doing is amazing, and I want to thank them for the work they are doing here in Jackson.”

The Sunrise community residents expressed appreciation for the visit, noting how meaningful it was to be able to share one-on-one time and stories with Township officials.

“I had the pleasure of joining Mayor Kuhn at Sunrise Senior Living this morning, where we spent time having coffee and meaningful conversation with the residents. It was a wonderful visit, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to connect with members of our senior community who add so much to the heart of Jackson Township,” Council President Palmeri said.

Donations collected will support Fulfill Food Bank, helping ensure that individuals and families throughout the region have access to food during the holiday season.

Jackson Township extends its heartfelt thanks to Sunrise Senior Living for inviting Township leaders to be part of this special event and for their continued commitment to community engagement and service.
