Jane Doe Found Dead In Plastic Bag With Gunshot Wound to Head in Manhattan

New York, NY – On Friday, July 5, 2024, at approximately 4:53 p.m., officers from the 13th Precinct responded to a report of a suspicious package in front of 207 East 27th Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unconscious and unresponsive person inside a plastic bag.

Emergency Medical Services pronounced the individual deceased at the scene. An investigation by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined the deceased to be a 31-year-old female who suffered a gunshot wound to the head. The case was ruled a homicide on July 7, 2024.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification. There have been no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.
