NEW YORK, NY – A federal judge in Manhattan has dismissed several defendants from a sprawling civil lawsuit filed against music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, ruling that plaintiff Latroya Grayson failed to properly serve multiple parties within the time required by federal law.

U.S. District Judge Jeannette A. Vargas issued the decision in Grayson v. Combs et al., finding that Grayson did not demonstrate good cause for missing service deadlines under Rule 4(m) of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. The dismissal affects defendants including Mike Savas, the Roger Smith Hotel, Crobar Nightclub NYC, Perry Broadcasting and Publishing (KJMM, Inc.), and Best Buy Co., Inc.

Court filings show Grayson sued Combs and numerous co-defendants in December 2024, alleging various misconduct linked to the entertainment industry. Over the following year, Grayson amended her complaint several times, adding new defendants and requesting additional summonses. However, by late 2025, the court determined that key defendants had still not been served with the lawsuit.

In December, Judge Vargas ordered Grayson to show cause why the claims against several entities should not be dismissed. The plaintiff argued that she lacked resources and information needed to locate and serve the parties. She also claimed that Best Buy had waived service through email communications and responsive pleadings, but the court rejected that argument.

In her written opinion, Judge Vargas ruled that the plaintiff’s explanations did not meet the “good cause” standard required to extend service deadlines. She dismissed the claims against the five defendants without prejudice, meaning they could theoretically be refiled if service is properly made in the future.

The lawsuit, which continues against remaining parties including Combs, is one of several civil actions filed against the music executive in recent years. The Southern District of New York case remains active as to the served defendants.
