MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. – Two Pemberton Township men were found guilty Wednesday of the 2021 murder of an 18-year-old Willingboro Township resident who was fatally shot outside his home, Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw announced.
Kavon Carter, 27, and Sylas Young, 22, were convicted of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, gang criminality, and multiple weapons charges following a two-month trial. Carter was also found guilty of promoting organized street crime and certain persons not to have weapons. Sentencing is scheduled for February 7, 2025.
The charges stem from the April 22, 2021, shooting of Yahsinn Robinson, a Willingboro High School senior, who was returning home from his part-time job when he was gunned down on Barrington Lane. Police found Robinson, struck by multiple bullets, pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators determined that Carter and Young were involved in a long-standing dispute between their Pemberton Township group and residents of Willingboro’s Buckingham Park neighborhood. Robinson, officials confirmed, was not involved in the conflict and was an innocent victim of the escalating feud.
Both defendants have been in custody since their arrests in December 2021.
