LAS VEGAS, NV – Edward Y. Kim, 42, was arrested and faces several felony charges, including first-degree kidnapping involving sex, first-degree arson, and sexual assault with a deadly weapon. The arrest followed an investigation triggered by a distressing discovery by firefighters.
On Nov. 16, Clark County Fire Department personnel found a woman with multiple injuries in Las Vegas. The victim, immediately taken to University Medical Center’s trauma unit, revealed she had been held and assaulted by Kim over several days.
The victim’s account, as per the arrest report, stated Kim restrained her with zip ties, assaulted her with bolt cutters, and set her hair on fire. She also reported being sexually assaulted and recorded without consent. Medical examinations confirmed severe injuries, including fractures to her kneecaps, forearms, right leg, and a finger, along with burns and puncture wounds.
Reports indicate that Kim ultimately stated he and the victim were “messing around,” subsequently asserted he was “not really a criminal,” and then diverged into a tangent about his children before declining to respond to further inquiries, as reported by The Review-Journal.
