JACKSON TOWNSHIP, N.J. — After weeks of uncertainty, the Lady Jags softball team has secured field access at the Justice Complex, marking a significant step toward equitable athletic opportunities for local girls’ sports programs in Jackson Township.
The development follows advocacy from the team’s coaches and parents, and with support from Jackson Township Council President Kuhn.
According to a recent update from the team, the Lady Jags have been coordinating closely with Angel Cruz of Jackson Holbrook Little League to navigate scheduling challenges and ensure consistent practice space for the team.

A meeting between the recreational and travel softball teams is scheduled for Thursday, aimed at resolving miscommunications and building a fairer field-sharing system.
The Lady Jags are hopeful the discussions will lead to a more transparent and inclusive process for field allocation across all levels of play.
“I am glad to see the girls have access to the fields,” Councilwoman Kuhn said. “I would like to thank those involved and I hope in the future, we can find a place for local teams who want to play ball in their hometown on the fields their parents pay property taxes for. We should not be leaving any Jackson based sports teams on the sidelines.”
Advocacy and future involvement
Looking ahead, the team’s leadership plans to attend the Jackson Holbrook Little League board meeting in May and become more involved in league operations. The goal, according to the update, is to support and strengthen the broader softball program for girls in the community.
The team’s representative also expressed appreciation to Council President Kuhn, noting that “we would not have secured time at the Justice Complex without your help.” She offered the team’s ongoing support to represent Jackson and contribute wherever possible.
