Lakewood man arrested for taking upskirt photos at New Jersey Target store facing worse charges

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. – David I. Sutton of Lakewood was arrested Tuesday on charges of second-degree possession of lewd images of children and fourth-degree lewdness, according to the Wall Township Police Department.

Sutton was taken into custody at his home on Lanes Mills Road after the Wall Township Police Department executed a search warrant with assistance from the Lakewood Police Department’s Special Response Team, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Unit, and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Internet Crimes Unit.

The investigation originated from an incident on August 28 at a Target store on Route 35 in Wall Township. Sutton, who the store employed, was arrested after store management discovered him using his cell phone to film up a female customer’s skirt. When police arrived, Sutton fled but was apprehended by Patrolman Shane Roland after a brief chase.

Detective Ty Hughes of the Wall Township Police Department, also assigned to the Monmouth County Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force, examined Sutton’s electronic devices following the August 28 incident. The examination revealed a significant quantity of lewd images involving children.

Sutton is currently being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution, where he awaits his first court appearance and detention hearing.
