LAKEWOOD, N.J. – A Lakewood man was arrested earlier this month after allegedly driving under the influence while his license was suspended from a prior DWI conviction, according to Ocean County jail records.

Authorities identified the suspect as Antonio Ascencion Huerto-Clara, who was taken into custody on December 5, 2025, and booked into the Ocean County Jail.

Court documents show Huerto-Clara was charged with operating a motor vehicle during a second or subsequent DWI license suspension (2C:40-26B), driving without a license (39:3-10), and driving while intoxicated (39:4-50).

Repeat offense under New Jersey law

Under New Jersey statute, operating a vehicle while under suspension for a previous DWI is a fourth-degree crime that carries a mandatory minimum jail sentence upon conviction.

Records indicate Huerto-Clara posted bond totaling $3,250 across multiple charges and was scheduled for release on December 9, 2025, pending further court proceedings.

Case status and next steps

No detainer has been filed against Huerto-Clara, and there are no federal holds listed in his inmate file. The case remains open in Ocean County Superior Court under docket number S20250003231511.
