LAKEWOOD, N.J. — Swimply, the private pool-sharing platform, is preparing for its biggest swim season yet with a projected 2 million users expected to use the service this summer, including 100,000 families. The surge in demand comes as forecasts predict summer 2025 to be the hottest on record across the U.S., Canada, and Australia.
Founded in 2019, Swimply enables homeowners to rent out their private pools by the hour, providing swimmers access to clean, uncrowded alternatives to public facilities. The platform also supports bookings for events such as parties, swimming lessons, aquatic therapy, and recreational activities on tennis and pickleball courts.
“Swimming in a private pool is no longer an exclusive privilege – it’s an accessible joy for everyone,” said Bunim Laskin, Founder and CEO of Swimply, who recently returned to his executive role. “By democratizing access to private pools, we’re creating a world where anyone can enjoy luxury amenities on their own terms.”
This year, Swimply’s host community has more than doubled, growing from 7,000 pool owners in 2024 to over 15,000 in 2025. The majority of hosts are women—many stay-at-home parents or empty nesters—who are using their Swimply income to reinvest in their homes and families. According to the company, hosts are reinvesting approximately 60% of their earnings.
Local escapes and real-life experiences drive Swimply’s growth
With spontaneous escapes on the rise, nearly half of all summer bookings are made on the same day, underscoring a shift toward local, experience-based leisure. Swimply users in major cities like Los Angeles travel an average of just 1.5 miles to book a pool, while New Yorkers stay within a 9-mile radius.
Swimply’s rapid expansion reflects broader trends in the sharing economy and experiential spending. Since launching with just four pools in Lakewood, NJ, the platform now operates in over 150 markets across three countries.
