Little Egg Harbor Man Pleads Guilty to 2022 Pharmacy Robbery

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Christopher Hurley, a 27-year-old resident of Little Egg Harbor, entered a guilty plea to charges of robbery in connection with a 2022 incident at a Rite Aid Pharmacy in Berkeley Township. The plea was made before the Honorable Kimarie Rahill, J.S.C., on March 18, 2024.

The robbery occurred on February 5, 2022, when Berkeley Township Police Department officers were dispatched to the pharmacy located on Route 9 following reports of an armed robbery. Investigation revealed that the suspect, later identified as Hurley, had brandished a knife at the cashier and demanded money. After obtaining the cash drawer, Hurley fled the scene.

An in-depth investigation led by Berkeley Township detectives culminated in the identification of Hurley as the perpetrator. Subsequently, on February 22, 2022, Hurley was apprehended by Toms River Township Police Department officers on an unrelated charge and was incarcerated in the Ocean County Jail. The robbery charges were formally presented to Hurley while he was in custody on February 25, 2022.

As Hurley awaits his sentencing scheduled for June 7, 2024, the State intends to seek a 12-year sentence in New Jersey State Prison, in accordance with the No Early Release Act. Hurley continues to be held in the Ocean County Jail pending his sentencing.
