Long Branch woman charged in $80K theft using employer’s credit card

FREEHOLD, N.J. — A 37-year-old Long Branch woman has been charged with stealing more than $80,000 from her former employer by using a company-issued credit card for personal purchases over a span of five years, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced Monday.

Nadine Hurd, who worked as the customer service and inventory manager for a manufacturing company in Wall Township, allegedly used the business credit card to buy personal items from more than 50 retailers. The items included clothing, jewelry, patio furniture, garden supplies, and a complete home kitchen remodel, including new appliances.

Hurd has been charged with second-degree theft by unlawful taking. A joint investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and Wall Township Police Department revealed that the thefts occurred between 2018 and 2023, after financial records were analyzed.

Hurd turned herself in on Friday, September 27, and was released on a summons. She is awaiting future court proceedings in Monmouth County Superior Court.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant Prosecutor Kristen Anastos from the Financial Crimes and Special Prosecutions Unit. Hurd is represented by attorney William Wachowski of Freehold.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
