WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Capitol Police arrested a man carrying a torch and a flare gun at the Capitol Visitor Center (CVC) on Election Day, prompting an investigation and a temporary closure of the facility.

The incident occurred around 1:35 p.m. when officers stopped the man during the routine security screening process. Police noted that he smelled strongly of fuel, raising immediate concerns.
