Man found shot on Chesapeake street dies with no suspects sought

Police say there is no known threat to the public

CHESAPEAKE, VA — A call about an injured person on Teresa Drive turned into a homicide investigation Tuesday after Chesapeake police arrived to find an adult man suffering from a gunshot wound and the victim later died.

Officers responded to the 1300 block of Teresa Drive at approximately 2:51 p.m., according to the Chesapeake Police Department.

When officers arrived, they discovered the wounded man.

Police said the victim subsequently died from his injuries.

His identity was not released in the department’s initial announcement.

Police said no suspects are being sought at this time and there is no known threat to the public.

The department did not provide additional information explaining the circumstances surrounding the shooting or why investigators are not searching for a suspect.

The homicide investigation remains ongoing.
