Man Injured After Being Trapped Under Falling Tree in Gloucester Township

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A man was injured on Saturday afternoon when his leg became pinned under a tree in Gloucester Township. The incident occurred at approximately 1:59 p.m. at 1560 Blackwood Clementon Road in the Blackwood section of the township.

According to authorities, the man was cutting down a tree when a large section of it fell, trapping his leg beneath it. Emergency response teams, including the Gloucester Township Police and multiple local fire departments, were dispatched to the scene.

Firefighters from Chews Landing Fire Department, Blackwood Fire Company, Lambs Terrace Fire Company, and Erial, along with specialized rescue units from Camden and Cherry Hill, worked to stabilize the tree and free the man. Emergency medical personnel from Inspira EMS & Ground Transport and Virtua Advanced Life Support treated the victim at the scene.

After being freed, the man was airlifted by Jefferson Stat Flight Medics to Cooper Trauma Hospital. The extent of his injuries has not been disclosed, and his identity has not been released.

Blackwood Clementon Road was closed eastbound for approximately an hour and a half during the rescue operation. “This is what happened,” the Gloucester Township Police said in a statement, reminding residents to exercise caution when operating machinery and to use proper safety equipment.
