West Memphis, AR – Ashton Wardlow has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Ivori Harris, who was shot multiple times outside her vehicle. A jury in Crittenden County found the 27-year-old guilty of murder in the first degree and 17 counts of terroristic acts.
Wardlow received four consecutive life sentences plus an additional 830 years in state prison. The shooting occurred on June 29, when Harris was found dead on Wilson Road after Wardlow fired 117 rounds into her car, causing it to crash into a nearby home.
Witnesses reported a history of domestic violence between the couple, who had an on-and-off six-year relationship. Investigators presented text messages exchanged between Wardlow and Harris, alongside surveillance footage showing Wardlow’s car near the scene.
The recorded messages revealed Wardlow’s state of mind prior to the shooting. Following the incident, he fled to Carbondale, Kansas, where he was apprehended and extradited back to Arkansas.
Prosecutors expressed gratitude for the diligent work by law enforcement in securing the conviction. Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Matthew Coe acknowledged the strength of Harris’s family throughout the trial process.
