Police are searching for a man who struck another man in the head and robbed him during an early morning assault in Manhattan’s Hamilton Heights neighborhood, the NYPD said.
The incident occurred Saturday, June 28, at approximately 4:25 a.m. near West 144th Street and Broadway.
According to investigators, a 43-year-old male victim was approached from behind by an unidentified individual who struck him in the head with an unknown object, causing lacerations to his head and face. The assailant then forcibly removed an undetermined amount of cash from the victim’s pants pocket and fled eastbound on West 144th Street toward Amsterdam Avenue.
The victim was transported to Mount Sinai Morningside in stable condition.
The suspect is described as a male with a light complexion, approximately 30 to 35 years old. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt featuring a teddy bear drawing on the front, blue jeans, and black and gray sneakers.
Police have not made any arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
