Washington County, MD – Deputy State Fire Marshals have charged a Hagerstown man for making several bomb threats against a retirement home.

John Calvin Walls, 60, was arrested on Wednesday after calling the Williamsport Retirement Village and threatening to blow up the facility. The threats were made earlier in the week to the home, which provides assisted living, rehabilitation, long-term care, and respite care.

On Monday, an employee discovered a threatening voicemail and recognized the voice as Walls’. The voicemail also recorded the caller’s number, which was identified as Walls’.

Investigators found multiple other voicemails from Walls threatening to blow up the facility. As a precaution, the facility was temporarily locked down, and Explosive Detection K9 Rosie from the OSFM Bomb Squad was brought in, confirming no explosives were present.

Walls faces charges of arson threat and telephone misuse, including repeated calls. He is currently held without bond after appearing before a District Court Commissioner.
