Maryland man leaves Walmart $100K richer after quick ticket buy

Brooklyn man hits $100K jackpot on scratch-off ticket bought at Severn Walmart

Baltimore, MD – A Baltimore resident from the city’s Brooklyn neighborhood is $100,000 richer after scoring a top prize on a Maryland Lottery scratch-off ticket while shopping at a Walmart in Severn.

The longtime lottery player claimed his prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters on October 17, just days after purchasing the winning Double Your Money ticket from a self-service machine at the Walmart located at 407 George Clauss Boulevard.

The $10 scratch-off ticket revealed its six-figure prize after the player scanned the barcode, instantly confirming the win on the machine’s screen. He quickly left the store, rechecked the ticket in his car using the Lottery app, and received the message directing him to claim the prize in person.

The winner, who has been playing Maryland Lottery games for more than 25 years, said he plans to use the windfall to purchase a new vehicle and a camper, with the goal of taking road trips and camping with his brother.

Double Your Money launched in July and still has 10 unclaimed $100,000 top prizes remaining, along with two $50,000 second-tier prizes.

The Severn Walmart will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
