Maryland Men Charged Following Assault in Newark

NEWARK, DE—Two men from Bethesda, Maryland, have been charged in connection with a severe assault that took place early in April on East Main Street in Newark. The incident, which occurred on April 7 just after 1:00 AM, left a man with serious facial injuries requiring hospitalization.

Newark Police, who were called to the scene, initiated a comprehensive investigation led by their Criminal Investigations Division. This included interviews with witnesses and the review of nearby video footage, which ultimately helped identify the assailants as 19-year-old Azarro Ravery and 20-year-old Rami Massoud. The suspects were apprehended on April 16 without incident at an apartment in Newark.

Following their arrest, both Ravery and Massoud were charged with second-degree assault and conspiracy. They appeared via video at Justice of the Peace Court #2 and were released on a $12,000 secured bail each.
