CHESAPEAKE BAY BRIDGE, Md. — Maryland State Police officers averted a potential tragedy on Route 50 Tuesday evening after responding to reports of a woman in distress driving toward the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.

Shortly after 8 p.m., a call alerted authorities to the situation, prompting troopers from the Maryland State Police Centreville Barrack to locate the vehicle as it stopped on the westbound span of the bridge. Acting swiftly, Trooper First Class Strong, Trooper First Class Passwaters, and Trooper First Class Maranto exited their patrol cars to intervene.

In a dramatic and courageous rescue, the three troopers successfully ensured the woman’s safety, preventing what could have been a devastating outcome. The Maryland State Police did not release further details about the incident but credited the troopers’ quick response and teamwork with saving a life.

“This is a testament to the bravery and dedication of our troopers,” a Maryland State Police spokesperson said.
